“We knew what we were undertaking was ambitious,”
says general manager Nick Reid. “To run side-by-side the complications of both an acquisition and implementing a predominantly custom-built ERP system doesn’t exactly make for calm waters. However, for the business to grow successfully by 30 percent, we knew we needed to optimize with adequate systems and an increased product offering.”

The successful acquisition of Five Star Stockfeeds in March of 2021 enables Reid’s to provide pellets as an option to their customer base, in addition to the mash the business has proudly supplied for almost 40 years.

“We see big opportunities in the pelletised container markets for beef, sheep, dairy and minerals that we’ve previously been unable to serve due to our previous plants supplying mash-only rations,” says owner/director Ian Reid.

Reid Stockfeeds remain extremely optimistic about the future of livestock agriculture. “For many of our team it’s a great honour to be part of the process that puts food on plates,” shares Nick Reid. “It’s about the wider supply-chain, country lifestyle and the essential nature of protein that reminds us how lucky we are to be in our line of work.”
