The Telstra Awards came and went in late July. We were proud to make the final-five for medium business beating out 2,500 other entrants. Alas we didn’t have the chutzpah to go the entire way. Though the process has given us insight and incentive to go a step better in 2021, with plenty of work already beginning this year for better efficiency, flow of information and improving our people. As time marches on I’ll share some of these exciting initiatives back through this column. Our Colbinabbin base has been receiving a number of renovations lately to improve its systems and facilities for staff. A significant inclusion to the team there is Rhys Martin who arrives with us after extensive experience as a mechanic with both Fonterra and Unilever. It’s exciting to have a person of his experience and character join the team. If you’re a member of staff be sure to introduce yourself as he gets familiar with both Colbinabbin and Trafalgar.

2018 finished on a high with in excess of 80 staff and family attending our end of year Chrissy Party at Albert Park Bowls Club. Great to see so many in attendance and enjoying themselves, even if Santa dropped by for lunch without any presents. Congratulations to our Gippsland Production Manager, Brian Street who took out the Annual “Grunter” Award for demonstrating strong positivity, honesty and knowing how to have some fun along the way.

There’s all sorts of excuses not to attend this event; cost, workload and their many variants. But in a world where the only consistency is change, what’s the cost in missing opportunities on best practices surrounding; antibiotics, drought, genomes, technology, and leadership through difficult circumstances? From personal experience last year, ADC 2019 will be another golden opportunity for the exchange of ideas and development of your business.
